Ms. Pianist

27 Aug Ms. Pianist

We call the filly “Easter” and bet you can’t guess why??  Yes – she was our surprise on Easter morning.  She was the fourth foal born on the farm.  Her foaling date is 4/5/15. Ms. Pianist is a ‘09 mare by More Than Ready and Pleasant Temper by Storm Cat.  She raced on the West Coast with 20 starts and had 3 first, 2 seconds and 2 thirds.  She earned a total of $82,920 with an impressive speed rating of 97. Easter is Ms. Pianist’s first foal and the mare is currently in foal with Creative Cause for 2016 with an expected foaling date of 3/29/2016.

The filly has already been registered in The Jockey Club and has been nominated for the KTDF (Kentucky Thoroughbred Development Fund).  She has all the basic foundations for a weanling completed, as far as handling and training, and has accepted everything with ease.  The mare can be a bit testy at times, but Easter is a curious and well-mannered filly.  She will be weaned within the next week or so, most likely at the same time with Potosi Silver’s filly.

Also attached is the TrueNicks on Potosi and Creative Cause – keep this info for later when we need to name the filly.

Introducing a new face here at the farm.  Her name is Erin Martin.  She lives in Pinon Hills, CA and came out here to help us out since all the youngin’s have left for school.  Her and her dog, Rex, absolutely love the place and we all hope they stay for a good long while.  She is a very positive and upbeat person that works very hard and is up to any challenge given to her – even mowing the pastures (with Rex helping her out, of course).

Other Farm News:  Everyone is busy making the farm look in tip-top shape.  The September sale at Keeneland is very close and brings in lot of visitors and we want to make a good impression.  All horses are happy and healthy.  We have also been busy giving scheduled vaccinations.  The earliest mares bred have been given their first pneumabort-K vaccinations.

Next week’s foal is Laugh N Yodel.
